Friday’s Street Final was a night of redemption for JART Pro Gustavo Ribeiro, who injured his shoulder in the contest at Dew Tour one year ago but locked down this year’s Final early in the night, from Run 1.
Ribeiro opened his run with a casual 360 flip step-up, then went straight into the backside Smith grind, looking immediately relieved as he was rolling away from it. Removing the jinx seemed to unlock something inside him, as he packed an incredible 10 total tricks in his run.
It featured a nollie nosebluntslide on the bump to bar, 360 flip to 50-50 on the Hubba ledge, crooked grind nollie flip out from the down rail, kickflip frontside boardslide on the bump to bar, 360 flip to nosebluntslide on the down rail, crooked grind up the ledge, kickflip, and bigspin frontside boardslide on the big rail.
Ribeiro looked almost shocked to have put it down on his first attempt, and pointed to the sky as he was rolling off. He attempted to improve on it, knowing there were heavy hitters down the entire roster, but fell in each of his next attempts.
